TX Belgian Malinois Alliance Rescue
Mission Statement

TX Belgian Malinois Alliance Rescue Inc, (TXMAL) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization which is dedicated to saving the Belgian Shepherd dog including the Belgian Malinois, Dutch Shepherd, Tervuren, Groenendael, and Laekenois. Our objective is to find permanent, compassionate, and experienced homes for abandoned Belgian Shepherd dogs through our dedicated volunteers who have a passion for these intense and beautiful dogs. We endeavor to partner with other NPO’s and shelters to fulfill our mission. We strive to educate the public on these breeds and how to successfully foster, adopt and own this unique dog. Our organization will support families adopting these dogs by providing resources on education, training, and behavioral advice along with the rescue of previously TXMAL adopted dogs. We provide an online community where fosters and adopters can find support from other Belgian Shepherd owners.

What It Takes to Own a Belgian Shepherd

Belgian Shepherds are not just pets—they are partners. Their intelligence and drive require dedicated, experienced owners who can meet their needs. A responsible owner will:

  • Provide Daily Exercise and Stimulation: These dogs thrive on activity and purpose. Whether it’s advanced training, agility, or regular hikes, keeping them physically and mentally challenged is key.

  • Be Patient and Consistent: Belgian Shepherds respond best to positive reinforcement and structured routines. They require ongoing training to bring out their best.

  • Understand Their Energy Levels: These breeds need space to run and work. They are not suited for sedentary or inexperienced homes.

  • Commit to the Long Haul: Belgian Shepherds are incredibly loyal and form deep bonds with their people. Owners must be prepared to dedicate time and energy to these amazing dogs throughout their lives.
